Near Porto, there are another two beautiful cities - Braga and Guimarães. Guimarães, the nation's birthplace, has one of the most magnificent historical centres in Portugal, and was declared Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Braga, a centuries old city, attracts thousands of visitors to religious monuments such as the cathedral and its treasures or the Bom Jesus Sanctuary.
