Santiago ist die afrikanischste aller Inseln mit fröhlichen Festen, lebendigen und sympathischen Menschen mit farbenfroher Kleidung. Santiago ist auch die grösste Insel der Kapverden und aufgrund der Einwanderung aus den übrigen, wirtschaftlich schwächeren Inseln, die Insel mit der grössten Bevölkerungsdichte.
